Team Leader, Workers' Compensation

The Hartford Life Insurance company has an excellent opportunity available for a Workers' Compensation team leader.

Job Responsibilities: Supervise adjudication of LTD and Workers' Compensation Claims for the Employee Benefits Disability Claim Team. Provide efficient technical and systems support for staff. Effectively manage the processing of LTD and/or Workers' Compensation claims, and ensure that all processing meets or exceeds guidelines and regulations. Handle referrals of complex or over-authority claims in compliance with established guidelines, including turn-around time standards. Ensure that new processing procedures, system enhancements or new systems are incorporated without interruption to service. Will provide training on new or revised procedures, policyholders specific issues, federal and state regulations, or at home office direction as necessary. Perform human resource management activities consistent with corporate personnel policies including performance appraisals, salary administration, career development, and productivity measurement including standards of performance and methods of monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications: Ability to manage complex information and communication on a highly visible, national account. Ability to communicate complex information in a mentoring/training situation. Ability to recognize trends, analyze reasons for the trend, recommends solutions or ways to take advantage of opportunity. Ability to organize work and manage multiple or multi-faceted projects. College degreed preferred. Two to four years in supervisory position in processing or administrative function in senior level exempt position of claim unit. Thorough knowledge of disability claims procedures is required as well as exposure to Workers' Compensation Medical Only and Loss-Time Claims.

The selected candidate will investigate, evaluate, negotiate and finalize Mass. Worker's Compensation Claims. This individual will have medical and disability management skills, strong customer service commitment and will handle lost time cases of minor to moderate severity and complexity, while working with insureds and team members to develop strategic resolution plans.
Additional requirements: WC claims adjuster skills, Mass law experience, strong communication skills, analytical ability, organizational and customer service skills, self motivation, prioritization, good time management. Multi-jurisdictional knowledge, preferred. Valid MA driver's license, required.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. 5-8 years experience.
Professional designations: INS, AIC, CIC, WCLA, a plus.
