We have several opportunities available in our Portfolio Management
department where you will be responsible for assisting in the development of
underwriting rates, rules and forms. Additionally, you will conduct
underwriting and rating compliance audits on policies issued and aid with
reporting underwriting results and assurance that we remain in compliance as
it relates to this reporting. 0-5 years of underwriting experience,
preferably underwriting personal lines homeowners and automobile. Must be

Job Duties
Responsible for the independent preparation, analysis, and interpretation of
actuarial and internal financial data and statements.
Activities/involvement will ultimately include: The acquisition and
validation of data, internal and external, system and non-system. The
preparation and analysis of pro forma accounting statements and the
development of supporting documentation, e.g. income, cash flow, reserve
position and analysis. The preparation of presentation quality exhibits.
Analysis of inputs to the Corporate Profit Model (including the actual input
of data). This individual will ultimately be responsible for the
compilation and submission of the FSMG's Variance Reporting and Planning
exhibits.

You will work directly with insurance carriers in analyzing their rating
manuals in order to deliver an Internet based rating product. At least two
years insurance experience in Property and Casualty and/or Commercial lines
products (manual rating experience a plus). Windows 95 and computer skills
are required.

Responsible for the independent preparation, analysis, and
interpretation of the data, and results of two (or three) of First State's
major lines/sublines of business. The primary focus will be on direct
pricing, but this individual will also be very involved in planning,
reserving, financial reporting, and reinsurance purchasing. Responsibilities
will include the development of analytical support for the ratemaking (both
direct and ceded), planning, and reserving functions. Additional ad hoc
responsibilities in the areas of new products/programs.
BS Degree in mathematics or other quantitative discipline. Strong
personal computer skills. Ideal candidate should be at or near the Associate
level of the CAS. Requires 4-6 years of actuarial experience, with emphasis
on pricing, preferably in an unregulated environment. Strong communication
skills; ability to interact effectively with othe disciplines, such as
underwriting, marketing and accounting.
